Cordyceps is often referred to as the imperial mushroom due to its long history in traditional medicine. This unique mushroom naturally occurs only in mountainous regions, such as the highlands of the Himalayas, where it is exposed to harsh and cold conditions.

Cordyceps is also known as the caterpillar fungus because of its unique life cycle. In nature, Cordyceps grows on insects, mainly caterpillars. As the fungus develops, it takes over the caterpillar. Eventually, the caterpillar dies, and the mushroom grows out of the ground.

Natural Cordyceps is sold for a price of at least 40,000 dollars per kilo. Fortunately, after years of research, scientists have succeeded in isolating and multiplying mycelia (fungal threads) from wild Cordyceps sinensis using a special fermentation technique.

Permitted to bear the name Cordyceps
The fungus is cultivated in a natural nutrient solution. At the end of the growth process, the fungus has absorbed all the liquid, resulting in a powerful concentrate: Cordyceps CS-4. Scientific studies show that the chemical composition of CS-4 is almost identical to natural Cordyceps. Therefore, CS-4 is officially allowed to bear the name "Cordyceps".
