However, it should be noted that while chlorella contains proportionally more iron than other greens, it is not a iron supplement. You would need to consume gigantic amounts of chlorella just to approach the Recommended Daily Amount of 14 mg, which is about 12 grams, whereas most products contain between 0.2 and 1 gram of chlorella powder per tablet.
The amount of iodine per gram is approximately 6 micrograms. The RDA for iodine is 150 micrograms. Therefore, one would need to consume 25 grams to obtain an amount of iodine comparable to that of a kelp tablet.
