More about this product
What are Psyllium Fibres?
Psyllium (Plantago seed) consists of the seed husks from the seeds of the psyllium plant. Psyllium is made up of more than 80% non-digestible fibres, of which 70% are soluble fibres and 30% are insoluble fibres. Psyllium forms a gel when it comes into contact with water and can absorb up to ten times its own dry weight in water. One advantage of psyllium fibres over other soluble fibres is that psyllium is less fermented by gut flora, thus causing fewer issues such as bloating and flatulence.
Psyllium is beneficial for cholesterol levels*.

What are dietary fibres?
Dietary fibres are a type of carbohydrate that your body cannot digest or absorb. Instead of providing energy, they play a crucial role in digestion and gut health. They are found in plant-based foods such as vegetables, fruits, legumes, nuts, and whole grains.
What types of fibres are there?
There are two main types of fibres:
Soluble fibres – These dissolve in water and form a gel-like substance in the intestines. Examples include acacia fibres, psyllium fibres, and fibres from oats and fruits.
Insoluble fibres – These fibres remain intact and promote bowel movements by increasing the bulk of the stool. They are found in whole grains, seeds, and vegetables.
Psyllium as a binding agent in gluten-free bread
Psyllium can be used as a binding agent in gluten-free bread due to its highly absorbent properties. This property replaces the function that gluten would normally provide.
Ensure adequate fluid intake when using Psyllium.
