Glucosamine plus contains zinc and manganese. Zinc and manganese contribute to the maintenance of strong bones. Copper contributes to the maintenance of normal connective tissues.
There are very few sources rich in glucosamine. It naturally occurs in larger amounts in cartilage and the hard parts of shellfish. These sources are rarely used as food.
Most research on glucosamine has been conducted with D-glucosamine sulphate, the form you will also find in this supplement. Glucosamine sulphate is very well absorbed via an active transport mechanism (90-98%).
Glucosamine can be taken daily without any problems. The high-dose tablets are cost-effective to use.
