Lactoferrin is a naturally occurring protein in the body. Through breast milk, babies receive between 2000 mg to 3000 mg. Additionally, the body produces this protein itself, and lactoferrin is present in bodily fluids such as tears, saliva, pancreatic juices, urine, and mucus, albeit in very small amounts, incomparable to the quantities babies receive at the start of their lives via breast milk. The need for lactoferrin may also be higher due to environmental factors such as stress and exposure to toxins.
