Catching those sun rays!
The sun is not the problem at the moment; it is shining brightly! However, going outside en masse to sit in the park is currently not an option. Nevertheless, this doesn't mean you can't occasionally catch a glimpse of the sun in your garden or on your balcony. If this is possible for you, make sure to do it! This will stimulate the production of Vitamin D in your skin, and the fresh air will also do you good. Here are a few handy tips:
- Normally, it is advised to stay out of the sun as much as possible between 12 and 4 as the sun's strength is at its highest. But now that everyone is staying indoors as much as possible, you can safely catch some extra sun (read: vitamin D production) during this time of day!
- Try to bare your forearms, if it doesn't feel too cold, to absorb more sunlight.
- Take the bike to do your shopping! With panniers and a bike basket, you can carry more than you think.
Taking extra vitamin D
With the increasingly urgent advice to stay indoors as much as possible, some people may struggle to catch enough sun rays. In that case, you can take vitamin D in the form of a supplement. Our health coaches are happy to provide advice!
Enjoy the sun
Vitamin D supports your immune system and is therefore an essential vitamin for your body. However, it's not a miracle cure that keeps all viruses at bay. Nonetheless, you can certainly give your body a helping hand during this period. So, enjoy the first spring sun rays!
