I'm no expert, but the flavour is certainly excellent. It does dissolve quite slowly just by stirring.
Normally, I train about 1 to 2 times a day. I am an athlete. I drink Springfield Protein 1 to 3 times a day, one scoop in my glass of water. It tastes very neutral and I recover really well from it! I also recover faster from strength training, which allows me to improve because I am better recovered for the next training session! It's a good product!
I use it as a supplement to my meals and for exercising. Fill three-quarters of a glass with milk, add a scoop of whey powder, half a banana, some oatmeal, half a teaspoon of cinnamon sugar... mix it all together and your shake is ready.
Whey protein concentrate has been used by bodybuilders for quite some time, as this protein helps to care for sensitive muscles during and after exercise.
The most common criterion for measuring the quality of a protein is the Biological Value (BV). The higher the BV, the better the protein is absorbed and retained in the body.
Whey is a complete protein, containing all essential and non-essential amino acids and has the longest chain of amino acids found in nature. Whey has the highest BV of all available proteins. Whey has a BV of 104, while the next highest value is 100 for a whole egg. Other values: milk 91, beef 80, wheat 54, and beans 49.
Whey protein appears to have unique properties to help stimulate the immune system and promote the natural defence system by stimulating glutathione. This is a naturally occurring sulphur amino acid tripeptide found in virtually all cells. Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant and detoxifying agent that can help protect against substances that cause free radicals.
As we age, the supply of glutathione decreases, allowing free radicals to have more effect. Studies have shown that reduced glutathione levels are linked to declining immune function. Whey stimulates immune function and glutathione levels.
